Gifted students secure places at Exeter Mathematics School
Congratulations go to Dawlish Community College students Amber and Georgia on gaining their places to study at the Exeter Mathematics School this September.
This is an enormous achievement and the two girls will be the first students from the College to study there. They have been through a rigorous selection procedure to secure their places, including an entrance exam and formal interviews.
The Exeter Mathematics School (EMS) is one of only two such schools in the country and opened in September 2014. EMS aims to attract and teach the most gifted and ambitious mathematicians from across the South West and has just 60 places available each year. Amber and Georgia will study four A levels including Mathematics and Further Mathematics in an academically stimulating and challenging environment. They will also have continual contact and support from mentors at Exeter University throughout their two years. Amber and Georgia will eventually be prepared for taking STEP papers, which is a requirement for entry into the UK’s top universities.
The College is delighted for the two girls whose dedication and hard work has definitely paid off. Amber and Georgia naturally are both ‘over the moon’ at receiving their acceptance letters last week. Very well done girls!
