We have a new Parent Support Adviser!
We are pleased to announce that from 1st September 2011 we will have a new Parent Support Adviser (PSA). Penny West has worked as a PSA in Gloucester before moving to Devon and we are delighted that she is joining us.
In September she will visit each school to meet staff, parents and carers. She will be able to explain how to access her support. Penny will be based at the DLP Office at Westcliff Primary School in Dawlish, but in practice will work across the area. Until then, a few words from Penny herself.
‘Hello, let me introduce myself.
I am Penny West, the newly appointed PSA for the Dawlish Learning Partnership. My role is help you as parents or carers with any worries that you might have in relation to your child’s education, behaviour or attendance at school. I can provide direct support on how best to deal with theses concerns and also help to identify other appropriate support where necessary.
My relationship with you is based on respect and trust. I will provide you with a confidential service, supporting you and your child to get the very best from your school.
I believe that every family is unique, so I will be really listening to understand your families educational needs. We can then work together to encourage a more positive engagement in learning. My previous experience in working as a PSA has highlighted to me just how important it is to support a really good link between school and home. This enables us to resolve issues in a much better way.
I am really looking forward to starting my new role within the Dawlish Learning Partnership to offer this valuable support service to parents and carers’.
