Westcliff Primary School win first DLP Junior Football League Trophy
Youngsters from Westcliff Primary School in Dawlish became the first to hold the new DLP Junior Football league trophy this week.
Their success came after playing other junior school teams from across the Dawlish Learning Partnership each week at the Red Rock astro turf in Dawlish.
Teams of 7 a side that have been competing each week from Exminster, Starcross, Gatehouse and Westcliff Primary Schools. Before each match there is a great fitness and skills session provided by Ben Scott from Devon Youth Service followed by a game between teams from each school. The standard has been very high with the final result only being decided on the last day.
The proud Westcliff team were presented with the DLP cup by Iannis Ireland, Head Teacher at Starcross Primary School and Chair of the Dawlish Learning Community. Westcliff Primary School will hold onto the cup for the moment as the new league starts again each Thursday after school. Then its all to play for again!
Thanks to the staff and parents who made this first league possible, especially during those cold and wet sessions!
